Future Planning, My Story

The Class of COVID19 Graduates

Peace out high school!

We did it. We finished high school with more world-wide recognition then any other class in our generation. Major celebrities, politicians, and world leaders gave speeches on our behaves! We received numerous emails, phone calls, cards, and had conversations with everyone we know asking how it felt to have our senior year cut short. The apologies for what happened to us came up every. single. day. Of course we appreciate the thought and consideration everyone is giving us, however, I for one am over it.

My senior year was so much more then masks, social distancing, lock down, protests, riots, and debates. My senior year was more then zoom calls, prom cancellations, and delayed graduation ceremonies. We applied for and won hundreds of thousands of scholarship dollars. We we accepted into colleges. We took challenging courses. We went to games, dances, musicals, concerts, and plays. We fell in love, made new friends and kept old friends close. We got to sit back and watch the Junior class freak out about taking the ACT! I mean, what more could you ask from 2019?!

Homecoming 2019

2020, some would was a bummer. Some seniors were incredibly disappointed and rightfully so! Many seniors, were incredibly okay with what happened. We missed prom, but we made our own. We didn’t get to have an official last day of school, but we found a way to say goodbye to those that mattered most. Some of us lost jobs but got to spend more time with our family before we leave for a while. Some of us received many more hours of work and got to save towards our future goals. 2020 is not over, and that is not a bad thing! If you examine your year, and I mean REALLY examine it VERY closely, you will find so many blessings in 2020.

To the class of 2020

Guys, we did it! We finished high school and it was pretty awesome. Then sometimes it wasn’t pretty awesome but that is what life is all about! If life was awesome all the time, we wouldn’t grow and we’d all honestly be pretty bored. No matter your opinion on what should have happened in 2020, take hold of the truth that you get to decide what you take from it; disappointment, or accomplishment. I hope each one of you choose to be glad and face this next chapter of life with excitement and passion because 2020 is not over yet.
