There are tons of scholarship search engines out there so how did FastWeb rise to the top for many college advisers and students? Proper advertisement? A pretty website? Reputation?
As a high school senior, I apply to scholarships all the time and while I make applying to local scholarships my top priority, applying to national scholarships is a habit I keep. (To read about other ways to find scholarships read my Top 5 post.) FastWeb has shown itself to be a great way for me to find scholarships that I qualify for and a really handy place to keep my list of scholarships I want to apply for. I can not say I have won much money using their site, but I have won some and some is enough for me to keep using FastWeb.
I first learned about FastWeb from an older friend that gave me a ton of tips for affording college. Using FastWeb was one of those ideas. Since then, I have also been referred to FastWeb from many colleges, school functions, and online articles. While I know that there are many other great scholarship search engines, this is the best free one I have found so far.
The cons I would have to say about FastWeb is that so many people use, so tons of people apply to the scholarships featured on it. With such large numbers of applicants, there is less of a chance that you will win a scholarship. I have found that applying to local scholarships is the best option, but applying to national scholarships is very important too!
